Pictures

It feels like it has been a really long time since I took pictures of the dogs. With my back not feeling very good, it hasn't been something I've really been able to do. But today it is feeling much better so I ventured out, camera in tow. I got a little carried away...

Barley was trying really hard to catch the ball.

He may not have caught it, but he was first there!

We are not this talented

Isn't this amazing?

Norman and Pele's Dad carved this and it was delivered to us this morning. We are spoiled!

The Life of Chewy!

This is how Chewy spent all day yesterday.

We actually think she is being too lethargic so she is making the trip to the vet later today. While she normally sleeps a lot, she didn't even climb on anyone's shoulders yesterday which is definitely not like her!
Update: So they think she is just having a kitty cold. Phew! She's on suppliments (that hopefully will be yummy enough to eat) and that should help her get better soon and maybe even help her permanently squinty eye.

Indoor Fun

It is that time of year again when the weather turns cold (although this week Mother Nature is making a liar out of me!) so it is time for Indoor Dog Park to start. For two hours only on Sundays (from 11-1) YOU and your dog can come enjoy the company of dogs and people at the daycare. Your dog(s) can run around and play with their friends and you can hang out where it is warm and dry, drink a coffee (you might want to bring your own - I don't drink coffee and apparently can't brew a very good pot either!) and chat with other dog owners. Feel free to invite your friends but if their dogs haven't been to daycare before, they'll need to bring a copy of their vaccinations for their first visit. The cost is just $5 per dog family and it starts this Sunday. I hope to see you there!

I forgot to add, to see a full list of the indoor dogpark rules (i.e. # of dogs per family, age of kids allowed, etc.), click here.

Lacey's Baby Picture

I decided you can't have a birthday post without a baby photo! She was left in a box at an auction and the cleaning staff found her, along with her 3 siblings.

This was the first picture the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue every took of her. She came home with us that night and never left. Can you blame us?

Birthday Bash

So it is Little Lacey's Birthday today and what better way to celebrate than offering 25% off daycare drop in rates to encourage all her friends to come and play. She even got a gift from Tucker! Notice her gorgeous purple bandana in the picture? She only wore it for pictures though because she knew some of her friends would be jealous and probably have a game of tug with it. She'll save it for special occasions (aka days when she isn't at daycare!)

It was also Harley's birthday today too. So he got to join in the festivities as well. I think he enjoyed his hat a little more than Lacey did.

In case you are wondering why I don't have a sale and Party for Coulee's birthday... It isn't favourtism, she would just rather have the place to herself!

The Perfect Name

Have you ever met a dog that has the perfect name? The one that completely matches their looks and personality? Well Elroy is one of those dogs.

I'd had this blog post written in my head from the moment he walked in the door. Unfortunately, he might have the perfect name, but I didn't get the perfect picture. I was still trying when his Dad came to pick him up so I'll have to try again next time. Until then, you'll just have to trust me.

Party Highlights

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the party but thanks to tonnes of photos, I can at least kind of feel like I was there. It sounds like everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed the games but also just enjoyed hanging out and chatting. Amanda has posted all the pictures that worked out (it can be hard photographing dogs in costumes when they don't sit still or don't keep them on for long!) on our flickr site so be sure to check them out.

As for me, I hope to be back in full swing next week - or at least laying flat on my back with lots of dogs for company! Don't forget it is Lacey's Birthday Celebration on the 28th (Tuesday) and not only will you save 25% on your daycare drop-in rates, but you and your pup will go home with a fun goody bag. Book early NOW so you don't miss it!

Found Dog

This dog was found last week near the Southside Firehall. She wasn't wearing a collar or identification. She is with the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue people now. You can contact Natalie at 403 381-2518 if this is your dog, or you recognize her.

If no one claims her she will be available for adoption in a week or so.

Cuteness

We've had not one, but two very cute new pups in the last two days...

Flex is a Rottweiler pup who is going to grow up to be a very big boy,

and little Bailey is a Boston Terrier/Shih Tzu Cross- isn't she cute? Look at those ears!

Despite their size differences they are good buds and have been playing up a storm!

Howl-O-Ween Party

The 2nd Annual Howl-O-Ween party is this weekend and I think some people have already started practicing their wiener dunking. There will be some pretty stiff competition. Jane, a jack russell terrier was the reining champion for years, but last year Sadie a fox terrier actually managed to beat her. I have to say Coulee has also given them a run for their money (so much so, she hacked for 2 days from straining on her collar trying to get at the wieners when it wasn't her turn - and I'm not exaggerating. I recommend using a harness if your dog is a little wiener crazy - less damage to the neck!). While it is fun to watch the dogs gobble the wieners down, sometimes it is even funnier to watch the dogs who absolutely refuse to put their face in a bowl of water. Check out Sarah's blog (with Jane) to see some photos from last year's competition.

If you haven't already done so and are planning to attend, please send us an e-mail so we know to expect you.

Another Helper

Vito isn't normally here when we clean in the afternoons as he leaves with Amanda, but the odd day he gets to help. Unlike Paden, who prefers to work alone, Vito likes to help by biting the end of the vacuum.

Lap Dogs and Kisses

Some days it is downright dangerous to sit down around here! :)

We aren't sure where exactly Fin is trying to sit... maybe Jolene's shoulders?

Now that is a big wet kiss!

Collars and Leashes

Have I mentioned we sell collars and leashes that are guarranteed even when chewed?

Gotta Bolt it Down

So it isn't just the vacuum cleaner that Paden likes to carry around...

Luckily for us, he isn't as fast with the chair as he is with the vacuum.

A Full Day

I was trying hard to get a picture with all the dogs so you could get an idea of what a full day looked in. But if I called the dogs, they were all over my lap so there are some inside the building but I think you can get the idea...

Here is another one with them all huddled around Amanda.

Ruby and Her Tunnel

You'd think Ruby would get tired of the tunnel after all this time...(older posts here and here)

A Helping Hand

Paden loves to help Jolene with the cleaning chores at the end of the day.

Kitten!

Isn't she cute? I just couldn't resist blogging about her. She is even cuter in person.

She hitched a ride into town on a pick-up truck and was found in the parking lot of Work Wear World. As of now, she is still un-named but that doesn't mean she isn't looking for a home! She came to the daycare today for her very own photo shoot and to meet Chewy. Chewy was completely unfazed by the kitten. It was the first cat she'd ever met but I guess compared to dogs, this little kitten wasn't very intimidating.

So if you, or anyone you know is looking for a kitten, please get them to e-mail Natalie with the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue. The cost to adopt her will be $130 and this includes her eventual spay and her current vaccinations.

Facebook

Hey there!

We thought some of you might like to get to know each other a little better so we've created a Facebook Group for Paws on the Run. It will be a little like a on-line dog park. Like all good dog parks, your dogs all know each other, you know most of the other dogs but you don't know the owners. We are hoping to change that!

Quick Reminder

Tomorrow is the last day to order calendars! I'll be putting an order in around 2:00 p.m.

Loveable Logan

It is hard not to love Logan.

He is cuddly and smooshy, playful and fun. He is also pretty goofy.

We were playing around on the the play set (aka - the castle) and were joined by his "cousin" Harley.

The played around on the castle for a while until Harley got bored and it was just me and Logan again.

He kept reaching out to me so I held my arms open wide. To everyone's surprise, he launched himself through the air and expected me to catch him. Amanda was too shocked to take the picture even though she watched the whole thing through the camera lens.

We're in Luck!

So the building didn't burn to the ground last night, and the roof didn't fly off either, so I think we are safe.

Some fine gentlemen from Alta Aluminum made a makeshift brace for the fence, and I've reinforced it with the Van. So unless the wind can push the fence and my van, I think we are safe today. But if you feel like keeping your fingers crossed, we'd really appreciate it!

The End...

...is not in sight!

Aren't signs supposed to be on the outside of the building? Aparently ours watched the fence blow over and decided it looked like fun. Thanks to the guys at Trim-Line for rescuing our sign!

The Third Disaster

Is there a black cloud hanging over the daycare? Are we cursed?

Today our fence blew down.

Little Ruby's mom happened to be driving by and saw the fence down and dogs running loose. She grabbed two and headed into the daycare. Kato and Ivy's dad was visiting a business next door and he grabbed the other two. Thankfully those were the only dogs that figured out the fence was open. We did head count after head count to make sure we had everyone at the daycare.

Thankfully it ended well and that everyone is safe. The four escapees think they had a great adventure and have no idea the stress they caused!

Please tell me our string of bad luck is over. I don't think I can take any more.

Howl-o-Ween Party!

We are hosting our second annual Howl-o-ween Party on October 25 from 10 a.m. -noon. We promise it will be a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. The first hour will be dedicated to games (weiner dunking, barrel racing and musical mats) as well as a costume contest and the second hour will be off-leash play.
