Sorry about the less than stellar picture - I just had my phone on me.

Agility Trial

This weekend Go! Dog! Go! is hosting an agility trial.  It is open to the public to come watch (please leave your dogs at home though) and it is really amazing to watch these incredible dogs run through the courses.  If you've ever considered taking an agility class, or want to see what the fuss is about, or just have a few hours to kill on the weekend, come check it out.  It is being held at the College Soccer field on Saturday and Sunday from 8-5.

And if you are lucky, you might even see a few dogs you recognize.  Jolene, Amanda AND Maureen all have dogs running, and I'm pretty sure there are a few daycare regulars that will also be competing.

Matching Belts

You can tell when I'm avoiding doing stuff, I'm supposed to be doing... I browse around on the internet and find things.  I was just on the Lupine Collar and Leashes website and I noticed a link to a new side business of theirs...  Lupine Lifestyles.

Now you can get a belt in all the fun styles that you can get the dog collars in.  How fun is that?!  They come in 1" and 3/4" and have lots of different buckles to choose from as well.  Let us know if you want one (tell us the size, pattern and buckle type) and we'll order it in for you.  They'll cost $22.

Watch Over Me...

Kaycee looks on in the background to make sure that her new little sister Piper is doing alright.

Piper the lab pup is learning all about daycare from her big sister Kaycee (who is an old pro at daycare)

What a Catch!

We play a lot of ball at daycare, and I must say that surprisingly most dogs are pretty good catchers. My own dogs, not so much. Maybe Dreyfus can give them a lesson? He can catch a ball even with all that hair in his face!

The Open Door

I think the open door way is my favourite place to take pictures at the daycare.  The inside of the building is so dark compared to the bright light, it almost makes it look like the dogs are standing in a studio.  Cooper, Jett and Fenway were more than happy to strike a pose.

Sweet Idaho

We recently found out that Idaho just passed over the Rainbow Bridge.  It was a shock to lose this little guy so suddenly and at such a young age.

Idaho couldn't help but make everyone smile.  He was always happy, always friendly and always ready to play.  We lovingly called him the "Potato" and we always looked forward to the days he came to daycare.

We'll miss you Idaho.

Rocking the Red Chair

Amanda saw an ad on Kijiji the other day for a fun, plastic red chair.  After one look I knew it was perfect for the daycare (i.e. easy to clean!).  A few of the dogs agreed with us...

Alyera decided it was the perfect size for her.

Whistler only used it to try and get closer to me.

And Sawyer decided it was safe after watching the other two and hopped on to see what the fuss was all about.

It's lack of cushion doesn't make it as popular as the couch, but it is much prettier.

Ruffwear

If you were in the daycare this past week, you may have noticed that our stuff from Ruffwear has arrived!

We've got some collars and leashes as well as some toys to sell.  I "special ordered" a few other items for myself as well (a couple of backpacks, a couple of beds, a couple of t-shirts...  apparently I was on a shopping spree!) and I can assure you that this company makes good stuff!  So far, I haven't regretted a single purchase.

The toys are durable and great for fetching and/or tugging.  And the leashes are super comfortable on your hands (I have a "puller" so I know what it can be like!).

Be sure to check them out next time you are in.  We'll take some pictures of the dogs playing with some of the toys this week, but in the meantime, you can see how much fun my dogs had with a "Gourdo" down at the river last week.

As always, if there is anything specific you'd like from Ruffwear that we don't carry, let us know and we'll be sure to add it to our next order!
