Indoor Fun

It was so hot today even the dogs didn't want to go outside. It didn't stop the action inside though....

Although we did have lots of nap time in the afternoon....

Indoor Fetch

Amanda and I had some fun getting these pictures on Friday. She was holding a ball and asking them to sit or down, before she threw it. As you can see, some listen more than others - or maybe they just wanted the ball more!

Farewell Jackson

Today is our last day with Jackson. We are all pretty sad that he is moving to Victoria but we know he will have fun there too. I think Jackson is one of, if not the best, players at daycare. He is gentle with the little ones (he even lets them hold on to his tail while he runs around - now that is patient!), he is able to get the new shy dogs to come out of their shells and he is just an all-round sweet, lovable and friendly guy. We'll miss you Jackson!!!

Sorry!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I managed to throw my back out Monday afternoon and I've been a little out of commission. I had an odd, S-shaped body for a few days. But thanks to a massage (from Veronica Kloiber with The Core (also our doggie massage therapist!)) and a day spent flat on my back, I'm almost back to normal.

We've had some new dogs this week and I managed to take a picture of one of them so far this morning. This is Missy.

Isn't she gorgeous?

Super Sliders

The child's playset gets quite a lot of use with both the big and little dogs. The big dogs seem to like to jump on top, enjoy being king or queen of the castle for a few moments, and then jump back down. They don't tend to use the slide to get down but some of them use it to get up.
The smaller dogs like to play hide and seek in the lower portion but some of them also like to climb up and down the slide. We love watching their different "slide" styles. Some run down the slide, others spread out their legs for stability and slide, and the rare few actually slide down on their bellies!

Weird

Up until last week we hadn't seen a single cocker spaniel in daycare. Now suddenly we've had two cocker spaniels in the same week! Laci-J visited early last week and Abby graced us with her presence last Friday and today.

As you can see, Abby is a little monkey.

She just couldn't seem to stay out of mischief...or the water buckets!

Wake Up Izzy!

Harley tried his best to get Izzy up from her nap to play. Izzy was enjoying her snooze in the sun too much to give in to his demands.

Gotta Be Fast!

Laci-J had her first day at daycare yesterday. She is wonderfully soft and very snuggly. She was really hard to photograph though because little Harley kept playing with her. So I had to be fast and take pictures during the 1/2 second when she was sitting still. This was the result...

I eventually decided to hold on to him so he couldn't distract her and I could get a decent picture.

New Cards

I remember my first "real" job out of University. One of the most exciting things about it, aside from the decent salary and little office, were my business cards. It was so exciting to see my name on a business card. It made me feel grown up and proffesional. These new cards don't have my name on them and they aren't very grown up or professional, but I have to say, they are pretty exciting. Look! They have YOUR DOGS on them!!!!

How cool is that? Before you ask, no, we don't have one of every dog who has ever come to daycare and yes, some dogs are on more than one. Why? Well first of all, not all the pictures worked well for the cards - they are kind of little. Second of all, I just asked Moo to take a random picking from our Flickr pictures and we tend to have more pictures of dogs that come more often. And my third excuse is, we only ordered 100 cards and there are more than 100 dogs that have come to daycare. We promise the next set will have different pictures so if you can't find your dog this time, there is always the next set to look forward to.

Introducing Harley to Harley

Well I guess it is only fitting that Harley and Harley hit it off so well. They do have the same name! They were pretty much inseparable

And we just needed to share this picture too. The look on Normie's face is priceless.

Tunnel Fun

I thought I'd share with you how to properly get into a tunnel - at least according to Ruby.

Step 1: Collapse the tunnel at one end and climb up the outside.

Step 2: Flatten the tunnel completely.

Step 3: Climb inside the opening.

Step 4: Finish getting inside.

Step 5: Turn around to face out.

Step 6: Invite a friend in.

Step 7: Close the entrance for some privacy.

Quiet Day

It is a pretty quiet day at the daycare today. It is almost a shock to the system after the last 2 weeks. Everyone must be out enjoying the beautiful weather that we have finally gotten.

We did have some excitement early this morning... Chewy went exploring. We had propped the door open and Chewy thought she too, would go out and enjoy the sun. Classic Carpets across the street called to say they had found her. When I went to pick her up, she was being cuddled by one of the guys. I don't think he really wanted to let her go!

You Guys Rock!!!!!

We have the best clients. We really do. I can't get over how generous and sweet you all are. We just wrapped up our 1 year birthday party and we had so much fun. Not only did we have a great time chatting with everyone, watching the dogs play and eating burgers and hotdogs but we raised $485 for the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue!!!! How great is that?

Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate and support the rescue. Thanks for the cards, plants and other gifts - it isn't necessary but very appreciated by all of us.

We love our jobs and you guys are the icing on the cake!

Oh, and for all of you holding your breath to see if you won the door prize...the Winner Is.....Julia and Tea! Congratulations.

Sneek Peek

Here is a sneek peek at the draw prize we've put together for tomorrow's Party. Too bad I can't win, I know the dogs would love the bed!

Just a little kiss?

Coco was desperately trying to give Chico a kiss... but Chico wasn't interested.

Ruby wasn't nearly as shy!

They're Famous!

We were so impressed with the toys we received from West Paw Design, a few weeks after we started using them at the daycare, we e-mailed them some pictures of the dogs playing with them. In turn, West Paw Design was so happy with the pictures, they asked if they could put them up on their website. Check out the article here!

To date, we've only had one toy not survive - a Zisc and we just replaced it this week. Considering all the action these toys have seen, we think that is pretty good.

Beautiful Huskies

Remeber those Huskies I told you about yesterday? Well they came back today and Amanda managed to get some pictures outside before it started raining again. Will it ever stop?

Meet Luna

And her brother Yukon.

Aren't they gorgeous?

Little Cutie

Today is one of those wild and crazy days. The rain is pouring, the dogs are soaking and everyone is feeling WILD. We can guarantee they will all be really tired today when they go home.

We have 4 new dogs today - Luna and Yukon, two gorgeous huskies, Reba a sammoyed cross and little Harley a boston terrier pup. I don't have any pictures yets of the first three. Luna and Yukon haven't sat still long enough for a photo, and Reba is brown instead of white at the moment due to all the wrestling she has done outside in the rain so I haven't even attempted one of her. I did manage one photo of Harley though....

Isn't he a cutie?

Speechless

Party Shoes

Just a reminder to put your party shoes on (or rubber boots as the case may be!) this Sunday from 11-2 and come on down to our Birthday Party Celebration. The weather is forecasted to be nice so keep your fingers crossed. All the proceeds from the BBQ will go to the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue. They are currently raising funds so they can purchase a quarantine shed for new pups. They have also had a beautiful dog quilt donated that they will be selling raffle tickets for.

While you enjoy great food, great conversation and the great weather, your dog will be enjoying the company of all his or her regular daycare buddies. We hope to see you there!

Grey Hairs

Dogs really seem to be able to grow old gracefully. Tawny is an older pit bull/lab cross who has really taken aging in stride. I love her grey muzzle. I never knew her when she was young, but I bet she is at least as beautiful now (if not more) than she was in her younger years. I hope the rest of us can be so lucky.
