Waiting List

We are getting busier and busier with each passing week. We are struggling to make sure that as many of your dogs can come to daycare but we do have a maximum number of dogs that we can safely take in a day. After much trial and error we've found that 35 dogs is our maximum. Every day we have some dogs that come all day, and others that just come for a few hours. With dogs coming and going at different hours, 35 seems to be the magic number.

You may have noticed that it is getting harder and harder to reserve a spot at daycare. People keep asking how early they need to book in advance and that is hard to answer. It depends on the day of the week and it depends on the weather. For example, as of Friday afternoon we have the following dogs booked for next week: Monday - 30 dogs, Tuesday - 32 dogs, Wednesday - 29 dogs, Thursday - 27 dogs and Friday - 33 dogs are already booked. That doesn't leave a lot of spots left for last minute reservations.

The best way to ensure your dog can come, is to pick a regular day that your dog comes and book them in "until the end of time." You then just need to call and let us know if your dog won't be coming. I know not everyone has such a predictable schedule, so for those of you who need to book at the last minute we have started a waiting list for the days we are full. If you are on the waiting list we will call you if we get any cancellations. Some days we have quite a few cancellations, but on other days we have none.

So please bear with us if you call and find out we are already full. We are doing our best to accommodate everyone but unless we move to a larger building and hire more staff, we are almost at our maximum. And while getting a bigger place may sound like a good idea to all of you, I'm not sure how good it sounds to me! ;)

I case you were wondering... this is what it looks like when a elkhound puppy tries to bite your camera!

2010 Calendar

We've been busy working on creating our 2010 Dog Calendars.

We've included as many dogs as we could, but as always, not every dog is in the calendar. I'll be finalizing the pages this weekend and will have a list of dogs included as well as a preview of all the pages for you.

We'll be selling the calendars for $18 and they must be pre-ordered. We will be sending in the order at the end of the month to make sure they arrive on time. Please e-mail us at info@paws-on-the-run.ca to place your order.

We usually donate the proceeds, so if anyone has a suggestion on where this year's money should go, please let us know!

Swing of Things

Just a quick note to say that we are still here. I think the cold weather has shocked me because I haven't picked up the camera once all week. I'm not really a cold weather person. I find it amazing that I actually used to walk dogs all day in the cold weather. The only way I survived was really good long underwear.

Anyway... I promise I'll be back in the swing of things tomorrow with pictures and a proper post.

Closed For a Few Days

Sorry for the inconvenience, but the daycare will be closed on Thursday and Friday for a family emergency, and on Monday for Thanksgiving.

So Long Ruby!

Ruby has been coming to daycare since she was a little puppy.
She was SO little, and SO cute!

She has LOTS of little daycare friends, and is a "life of the party" kind of girl.

She is also one of those dogs who LOVE to snuggle.
Who can resist those big sad eyes?

Ruby is moving away, and yesterday was her last day.
We are sad to see her go but wish her luck in her new city!
Her mom promised to bring her by for occasional visits-
which is a good thing! We are going to miss her.

Goodbye Ruby!

Speaking of Cute...

Zepplin also came for the first time on Monday. I think he is super handsome, but I may be a bit biased. I have a thing for black and tans, and big ears. :) Lacey really liked him too. Maybe he reminded her of a long lost relative.

Zepplin had just as much fun as Achilles, but he wasn't as much of a fan of the camera.

Little Labbie

Ahhh. I love Monday mornings. What could be better than coming to work and meeting new dogs. Especially when they are this cute!

I took lots of pictures of Achilles. He loved the camera and followed me everywhere.

Trick or Treat

It is October. Can you believe it? That means Halloween is just around the corner. And do you know what that means? That it is almost time for the

3rd Annual Paws on the Run Howl-o-ween Party!

Date: Saturday, October 31

Time: 10 a.m. - noon

Where: Paws on the Run Dog Daycare (242 12 St. N)

Cost: $5 per family

There will be treats and drinks for doggies and people and lots of games like wiener dunking and musical mats. And don't forget about the costume contest! I've heard a few people are already working on theirs so you might want to get started.

After all the fun and games, the costumes and leashes can come off and the dogs will have a chance to wrestle and play.

We need to know how much food to buy so please RSVP by October 26!

We hope to see you there!

Newbies

We had 4 new dogs today! First there was Max - a sheltie border collie cross. He started to play within 5 minutes of arriving and was almost instantly covered in slobber (you can see some of it on his neck) from Molly the lab. We've never seen Molly play so long with just one dog before! They still haven't stopped.

This is Jasper. He is much more attractive than this picture but he was not enjoying the camera, so I didn't want to push it.

This big girl is Kay-lee our very first Bouvier at daycare. She had lots of fun in the short time she was here. We'll see her again later this week so hopefully will get more pictures. I'm not sure what is stuck in her fur but it was probably some of the weeds we have growing along the fence.

And last but not least, is Tonka (I love the name!). He has he cutest little ears. I love the way they don't match.
