Tug

Apparently you can play tug-of-war with a ball. Who knew?

I love Dozer's lips in this last one...

PS - We've taken 1,000 photos in the last 2 days - literally. I guess we've been going through withdrawal. I'll be posting a bunch to our flickr site shortly if you want to check them out.

Smile!

We got our new camera today. I know it put a smile on my face!

It has been frustrating this week with all the new pups and no pictures to show for it. Luckly we had three new dogs here today that we can introduce you too!

Alyera - the cutest little jack russel pup. She spent the first half hour doing her submissive "army crawl" before she felt comfortable enough to race around the daycare. Don't you love the "windblown" ear look?

Otus - a gorgeous doodle pup that wants to play with every dog that crosses his path.

And last, but not least, meet Izzy. Her personality is as beautiful as her face.

Mike the Mechanic

We got some new uniform shirts today. Sandy and Amanda really wanted "plain jane" t-shirts so that is what they got. We also thought it would be nice to have our name on our shirts so you would know who we all are. You are going to have to remember my name though because I didn't get any new ones yet.

Is it just me or do the names on the shirts remind you of names on coveralls? (hence the blog title)

PS - Think speedy thoughts - our new camera is in the mail.

PPS - The colour of the shirts haven't changed...just another example of why we miss our camera!

Breaking Stereotypes

Ivy is a very sweet girl who was with the Prairie Dog Canine Rescue for a little while until she was adopted by her foster family. She is fun, playful and gentle. When she is at the daycare, she is one of the dogs we use to greet new and shy dogs. She is also a pitbull. Take a look at her playing with Monty, a four month old standard poodle pup. We took this about 10 minutes after he arrived on his very first day.

Bad Photo Ahead

She what happens when you take away a woman's nice camera and put a point and shoot in her hands? How does anyone get a decent picture with these things??

I think we'll have to post more videos until we get our camera back!

We are Cursed

Apparently doggie daycare is hard on a camera. We had troubles last December and January and had to send it off to be fixed. It looks like it might need to make another trip. Either that, or we'll have to buy a new one! By the time we get it fixed (for the third time in a year) it would have been cheaper if we'd bought a new camera in the first place!

Isn't this a gorgeous picture? Sigh!

Elephant Ears

Harley decided that since Whoop-Up Days have started he would go out and get an elephant ear....

Not an Action Star

Paden was being really cute and flirty with Maeby the basset hound yesterday. She was laying on the floor exposing her belly and he was doing the zoomies around her. I ran to get my camera but of course, they stopped as soon as I got back. I couldn't even get Paden to back-up more than 1 foot so I could take his picture. He may not think he's an action star, but he was definitely ready for his close-up!

Do Your Ears Hang Low?

Do they wobble to and fro?

Can you tie them in a knot?

Can you tie them in a bow?

Can you throw them o'er your shoulder like a continental soldier?

Do your ears hang low?

Trying Something New

Our visitor board is getting a new look - thanks to Sandy's great suggestion. Instead of just writing dogs' names on the board we are going to be posting their picture so everyone will have a better idea of who is here today.

I ran out of laminating sheets this weekend so not all the dogs have been done but I hope by the end of the week to have most of them done. If you don't bring your dog in very often, we may not have a photo of them but we will make sure they aren't forgotten. One thing I've realized already is that the board isn't going to be big enough... I think I'll have to get another one!

Saturdays

Now we have another reason to be open Saturdays... starting next week, Tara will be grooming on Satudays too. On Saturdays, the daycare is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and grooming appointments will be available after 9 a.m. You can visit our website to find out more about our grooming services and prices.

And because I can't seem to find any appropriate grooming pictures, I'll leave you with a picture of Bruiser. Have a great weekend!

Cuteness

So it wasn't all "ewww" today.

It isn't obvious that Amanda is holding a treat is it? ;) Which, by the way, is what caused all of Atlas' slobber in the first place.

Ewww!

So yesterday had some "awww" moments and today there are just "ewww" moments.

Welcome Back!

Amanda has been gone for more than a week. She was at the AAC Agility Nationals in New Brunswick with her dog Wicca. They did great at the competition and it sounds like they had a lot of fun too. We are glad they got to go, but we are all glad they are back! Sandy and Jolene have been putting in extra hours as have I. I think the only thing that has kept me going is the insane amounts of Starbucks that I've been drinking lately!

These pictures were taken at the agility trial in Lethbridge this past July

Lily

It was Lily's very first day today and she did great! She is our first whippet at the daycare. Isn't she gorgeous?

Here she is checking out one of the "wild and crazy bunch" on the other side of the fence. She is very sweet tempered and she had fun hanging out with some of the smaller dogs and eating the treats that Coco's mom made for the dogs. When you pick your dog up tonight, be sure to help yourself to one - if there are any left. I've caught Chewy eating them twice!

Now We're Talking

Chewy is well know for her weird and uncomfortable sleeping places. She has been known to sleep in plants, recycling bins, behind the monitor (with all the cords as a pillow), in boxes... You get the idea. Well today I found her in the treat basket!

Talk about decadence.

Speaking of New Faces...

... We had 5 new dogs today! That kept us hopping. Here are pictures of two of them - Max and Pumpkin, two confident little Pomeranians.

Let me introduce...

...Tara! Our new groomer! We are all really happy that Tara has joined our team. She has been grooming on and off for almost 20 years and has groomed in shops in Medicine Hat and Kelowna and she had a home based business on Vancouver Island for the last few years. Tara and her family just moved back to Alberta and we are so glad they did!

We've been keeping her very busy on her first week. I was hoping she could start her training in the daycare when she wasn't grooming, but she hasn't stopped grooming! That is a good thing so we won't complain!

Cuddling to Stay Cool

It doesn't make sense to me but it obviously works for Beacon and Doogan!
